Village Gate Homes leases unfurnished rental homes to UBC’s full-time faculty and staff.
Evolve is our newest rental opportunity with 110 rental suites for faculty and staff. These are high performance energy efficient homes that will be situated on the corner of Wesbrook Mall and Gray Avenue.
Targeting Passive House certification, these homes are built to minimise energy usage with triple glazed windows, movable sun shades, heating recovery ventilation continuously providing fresh filtered air to create a healthy breathing and living environment.
All of the properties managed by Village Gate Homes are built on principles of sustainability, providing social, environmental and financial support to the university’s academic mission.
Our homes have been designed and constructed adhering to the UBC specific green building rating system – Residential Environmental Assessment Program (REAP). REAP provides a sustainability framework to ensure all UBC residential development responsibly addresses water conservation, energy-use reduction and reduce environmental impact on both the building site and the larger community.
Any surplus revenue generated through Village Gate Homes’ buildings benefit the UBC Endowment Funds that supports a wide range of programs and activities such as research and academic excellence across the University in perpetuity. By choosing to live on campus you are furthering the sustainability of the University’s academic mission.
The public realm in Wesbrook, Hawthorn Place and East Campus is a key component of UBC’s livability. From the connected water features, to the gathering squares, to the community gardens and softball diamond, Collings Field at Nobel Park, to the soccer fields at Brockhouse Park and the imaginative playgrounds throughout the parks.
Home to over 8,000, Wesbrook Place is UBC’s largest neighbourhood. From cafes to grocers to doctors and shops, Wesbrook Village has it all in one convenient location.
Hawthorn Place is a residential neighbourhood that houses nearly 700 homes, with easy access to an abundance of greenways.
East Campus lies at the heart of UBC Point Grey, with close proximity to the academic hub and sporting facilities.
The Live at UBC Welcome Centre is an excellent starting point for those who wish to learn more about UBC Point Grey.
